Begin: “I want you to understand that my right eye would fall out, my right hand would fall off before I ever sign a single scrap of paper permitting the dismantling of a single Jewish settlement [in Sinai].

Menachem Begin had previously taken a solemn oath before God and the people not to let Egypt regain the Sinai. The issue was resolved by letting the Israeli Knesset make the decision and not him.
